Quick start

When you finish these steps, your agent calls you every time it finishes a task.

  • A computer that runs Claude Code, Codex, or a Multica agent, with Node ≥ 22.18 and pnpm 9
  • An Android phone, an Apple Silicon Mac, or both
  • An OpenAI-compatible LLM key to write briefs. Without one, calls still ring and read the raw report
  1. Get a server

Deploy outbrief-server on a machine your phone and computer can both reach. Run exactly one process. On first start, the log prints a one-time claim code:

    Claim code: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

Write down the claim code and the server URL. http://127.0.0.1:8787 only works on that machine. For a phone, use a LAN IP or a public https:// URL.

  2. Install the daemon on the computer that runs the agents

    终端窗口
    git clone https://github.com/outbriefapp/outbrief-daemon
    cd outbrief-daemon
    pnpm install
    node src/cli.ts login --server <server-url>
    node src/cli.ts install
    • login asks for the claim code. Then the terminal shows a QR code and a 6-digit code for step 4.
    • install (macOS) starts the daemon at login and hooks up Claude Code and Codex. For Linux and Windows, see Install the daemon.
  3. Install the desktop app on the same computer

Download the macOS installer from the download page and open it. With the daemon running, the desktop app joins the same account on first launch. Nothing to fill in.

  4. Install the phone app and scan

Download the Android package from the download page. After install, scan a QR code from either place:

    • Settings → Devices → Add a device in the desktop app
    • node src/cli.ts pair in a terminal on the computer

To ring when the app is swiped away or the phone is locked, also follow Background calls.

  5. Set up the LLM

In the app on any device, open Settings → LLM, pick a provider, enter the key, click Test connection, and save. The setting syncs to the daemon and applies to the next brief. See LLM settings.

Voice uses the free Azure voices by default, with nothing to set up. To change it, see Voice settings.

  6. Get your first call

Ask Claude Code or Codex for a small task on the computer. When it finishes, your devices ring.
