In the app
On a device already in the account, open Settings → Devices → Add a device. The page says when the new device has joined.
OutBrief has no username or password. The account is anonymous: the first device creates it, and later devices join with a pairing code. Calls only go to devices in the same account.
outbrief://pair?server=<server-url>&code=<6 digits>&key=obk1_…In the app
On a device already in the account, open Settings → Devices → Add a device. The page says when the new device has joined.
In a terminal
On a computer with the daemon, run node src/cli.ts pair. The terminal prints a QR code and a pairing code.
Automatic. When the daemon on this computer is running, the desktop app asks it for a pairing code and the key on first launch and joins.
If the daemon is installed but not running, the welcome screen waits and joins once the daemon starts.
Scan the QR code from Add a device or from the terminal with the phone camera.
The server URL in the QR code must be one the phone can reach: a LAN IP or a public https:// URL, never 127.0.0.1.
On a device in the account, open Settings → Devices → Add a device and copy the command on the page.
In the daemon folder on that computer, run:
node src/cli.ts login 'outbrief://pair?server=…&code=123456&key=obk1_…'If the daemon is already running, run node src/cli.ts install again so it uses the new token.
The desktop app does not use a camera. Copy the pairing link and paste it into the desktop app’s welcome screen.
The code alone joins the account but does not carry the key, so you also enter the encryption passphrase: the sentence set in Settings → Encryption, at least 12 characters. The same sentence gives the same key on every device.
If no passphrase was ever set, use the QR code or a pairing link with key=.
node src/cli.ts login 123456 # the daemon joins with 6 digits and asks for the passphraseThe daemon does not have to create the account:
node src/cli.ts login '<pairing link>'.Deploy the server, run login on the computer, and scan the terminal’s QR code with the phone.
When you change Multica, the LLM, or the report language on the phone, the setting travels encrypted through the server to the daemon on that computer, so the computer has to be online. With several computers, pick one at the top of the settings page.
Settings → Devices on any device lists every device in the account. Remove any of them; a removed device’s token stops working at once and it gets no more calls.
To join another account, scan or enter a code on the same page. The device leaves its current account first.
