The app is not notarized with a Developer ID, so macOS may block the first launch. Right-click the app in Finder → Open, or run:
终端窗口 xattr -cr /Applications/OutBrief.app -
If the daemon on this computer is running, the app joins its account on launch.
- Download
OutBrief_<version>_arm64.apkfrom the download page and install it. - Open the app and scan the QR code from Settings → Devices → Add a device on a device already in the account.
- Turn on the permissions in Background calls.
No ready-made installer yet. Build from source:
git clone https://github.com/outbriefapp/outbrief-appcd outbrief-apppnpm installpnpm tauri build # desktop installer in src-tauri/target/release/bundle/For iOS, run pnpm tauri ios init, then pnpm tauri ios build. This version has no call pushes on iOS.
You need Node ≥ 22.18, pnpm 9, Rust stable ≥ 1.85, and the Tauri prerequisites. See Development and builds.
First launch
Section titled “First launch”Usually the app joins or creates an account by itself. The welcome screen only shows up when it cannot, most often because:
- A private server has no owner yet and needs the claim code from its log
- The server has closed signup and needs a pairing code
- This device was just removed
- The local daemon is installed but not running (it joins once the daemon starts)
On the welcome screen you can change the server URL, create an account, or join by scanning, pasting a pairing link, or entering a code. See Pair devices.
